A Huge Success for All Involved!

We just wrapped up our 6th season of SOAK which brought another sequence of performances, labs, celebrations, and good cheer to the neighborhood! A big THANK YOU to this year’s amazing artists and teachers who made SOAK the success it was. Thank you to our audiences for filling the rooms with your energy (over 600 people attended the diverse lineup of shows, workshops and post-performance discussions at CAVE and at our LEIMAY Block Party). Finally, thank you to our donors, partners, sponsors, and volunteers – your support was essential to make SOAK a reality.

  • We presented the work of 20 lead artists based in New York and around the world. Further, we continued our post-performance discussions for all events; this kind of engagement deepened the audience experience and gave insight to our artists.

SOAK 2017 Artists: Massimiliano Balduzzi, Heidi Boisvert, The People Movers, Lindsey Mandolini, Lucy Kerr, Jeremy Pheiffer, Drew Weinstein, Hee Ran Lee, Butch Merigoni, Irena Romendik, Nicolas Noreña + Michelle Uranowitz + Timothy Scott, Terra Incognita, Vertical Player Repertory

  • This year, we offered six LEIMAY LUDUS Labs, exploring dramaturgy, butoh, physical theater, voice, and puppeteering.

  • Through Encounters with LEIMAY, we explored ideas on frantic beauty, and presented studies from our upcoming production at BAM. We also presented the work of LEIMAY Ensemble member Derek DiMartini.
  • we hosted yet another fun-filled Block Party, where children, adults, strangers and friends, came together to share food, performances, and fun! The Party opened with a set by Jack Leahy and featured more music by Liam Benzvi, Jeremy Slater, Will Shish & the Sound Waves, Judith Barnes, and Patrick Todd. We also showcased booths by LEIMAY artists Irena Romendik and Liz McAuliffe and performances by Lucy Kerr, Hee Ran Lee, and The People Movers

  • We also fostered greater ties with our local neighborhood businesses. Pasta Wiz was this year’s festival sponsor and Scosha and Geometry Kids held down booths at our block party.

  • Over 600 people attended the diverse festival shows, workshops and post-performance discussions at CAVE and at our LEIMAY Block Party.

  • Over 110 people participated in our fourth Lucky Cookie Time raffle and 19 lucky winners won prizes from our neighborhood supporters.  Click here for details.

We want to thank our partners, funders, audience, volunteers and artists! It was their support and participation that made it possible. We look forward to share with you many more performances and art events in the upcoming seasons! THANK YOU!
